Join us on our Old Town Group Tour to enjoy the beautiful island of Gamla Stan and understand why the Norsemen chose this island to create their next capital. Our tour is designed chronologically so you can experience history just like the city did. We will start from the Viking Era, the German influence in the country and the Danish clash which led to the most important Swedish event: the Stockholm bloodbath in 1520 followed by the succession of Gustav Vasa.
Your guide will take you on a beautiful walk, describing an overview of Swedish history and essential general information, offering you not only a deep dive into the city’s history but also, some insights of today’s life in the country.

We will meet by the entrance of the Vasa Museum and skip the waiting line, as we enter the museum together.
We will start with the rise of the Swedish Empire and the war that led Gustavus Adolphus to commission the ship. What was its purpose? Who were Sweden’s enemies at the time? And what went wrong during construction, causing the ship to sink? We’ll explore these questions and uncover who was responsible for the tragedy.
Years later, the ship was rediscovered and salvaged, but it was not an easy tak. Together, we’ll delve into this incredible recovery project, with maps used to locate the wreck, and how it was finally found in the 1950s. Salvaging the ship opened a remarkable time capsule of the 17th century, revealing secrets about daily life during that era.
